Next Door is the product of a marriage between a chef & sommelier.
RICHARD & Vicki
Richard started his career in London building his foundation of cooking. Over 18 years his love for food, culture and cooking has taken him to kitchens far and wide, from France to the tropical isles of the Caribbean and then full circle back home again. This restaurant has been a dream in the making along the way, one that has been shared since meeting Vicki X years ago
Vicki grew up surrounded by food, a family of bakers and butchers where ingredients were part of everyday life. At 16 her path led through hospitality and then into wine, taking up various management and sommelier roles across many prestigious restaurants. At Next Door she has shaped the foundation of the experience around the table bringing her dreams to life.
The setting for this restaurant adjoins what once was Richard and Vicki’s home, in the early days of the restaurant it was literally next door.
Their diners are their neighbours and are invited to enjoy what they love most.
The building is a 17th century timber frame cottage that once housed Vicki’s great grandfather’s, grandfather’s and then father’s butchers shop.
H E Coward, still thriving today, is now just a few doors down.
